Day 297 – pumpkin

Dreamy isn’t she? My Long Island Cheese Pumpkin. I don’t know why they call them that, but she is creating the most amazing fragrance in my kitchen right now. A mixture of warmth and butter, not too sweet and not too savory. I feel calm, like I just stepped into a Hallmark movie and am wearing my favorite fleece jammies pants. Yeah, that’s the smell of a good pumpkin! I can’t wait to make something with it. It took 3 baking dishes, even though it was a smaller gourd. And cutting it up was no easy task either!

Usually (being a reformed non-pumpkin lover) I only roasted the jack o’lantern type of pumpkin in an effort to save money during the growing season since I mix it in with dog food for the pups. But this time it’s all for me…I’m dreaming of either a pumpkin custard or even a pumpkin curry dish. Maybe I’ll go crazy and create a pumpkin pasta dish. You’ll have to come back to find out. 🙂
